Research Interests

Partial differential equations arising from mathematical physics, using techniques from representation theory, complex analysis and spectral theory.

Curtiss Lyman received a B.Sc. in Psychology from Tulane University in 2012, a M.S. in Mathematics from Western Washington University in 2017, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Washington in 2025, working under the supervision of Alexis Drouot. Between these degrees, Lyman also worked in workforce development for the Seattle Colleges and as a data science consultant for the online dating site Coffee Meets Bagel. Lyman is now a Ju Tang Chu and Wui Ping Chu Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics in the Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics at Columbia University. 

Other interests: board games, sailing, and his chocolate lab Zelda.
